Aprilia SR-GP Replica Launched: MotoGP-Inspired Scooter Debuts

by | 24 Sep 2025

Aprilia has unveiled the Aprilia SR-GP Replica, a new limited-edition variant of its SR 175 scooter, bringing bold racing aesthetics and exclusive styling cues to its high-performance scooter line. The SR-GP Replica is essentially mechanically identical to the SR 175, but adds MotoGP-inspired graphics, team branding, and upgraded instrumentation to distinguish it in the market. Priced around ₹1.22 lakh (ex-showroom), it targets enthusiasts who want a racer’s flair in commuter form.

Engine & Performance

Under the hood, the SR-GP Replica retains the 174.7 cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled hp-e engine from the SR 175 platform. It produces 13.08 bhp and 14.14 Nm of peak torque and is paired with a CVT gearbox. The engine is E20-compatible (i.e. ready for ethanol-blended fuel), ensuring future-proof compliance in Indian markets. Riders have reported a typical “rubber band effect” in low throttle zones due to CVT tuning, but above midrange the power delivery feels smooth and adequate for urban and light highway use. The claimed top speed is around 110 km/h (speedo reading).

Compared to rivals like the Yamaha Aerox 155 or Hero Xoom 160, the SR-GP Replica competes well on torque and midrange response, though it sits at a premium price point due to its exclusivity.

Chassis & Handling

Mechanically, the SR-GP Replica shares the same underpinnings as the SR 175. It rides on 14-inch alloy wheels both front and rear, with a conventional telescopic front fork and a rear monoshock setup. The frame is a steel unit tuned for sporty handling and agility in city traffic. Braking is handled by a 220 mm disc at the front (with single-channel ABS) and a drum brake at the rear. The suspension is reportedly on the stiffer side, which aids corner stability but can make rough-surface riding a bit firm.

In use, the SR-GP Replica retains the SR 175’s sharp turn-in and planted feel in curves, thanks to its chassis geometry and tyre grip. The wide handlebar and active riding posture further add to rider confidence during twisty runs.

Technology & Features

One of the standout upgrades in the SR-GP Replica is its 5.5-inch full-colour TFT display, replacing the older LCD unit. This unit supports Bluetooth connectivity and compatible app integration for calls, navigation, and ride data (mirroring features seen on Aprilia’s 457 series). The scooter retains full LED lighting — headlamp, tail, and indicators — along with a USB charging port.

Visually, the SR-GP Replica stands out with its MotoGP-inspired matte black bodywork, overlaid with red and purple race graphics, sponsor decals, and the race numbers of Jorge Martin and Marco Bezzecchi — mirroring the 2025 RS-GP machine livery. The wheels are finished black, with contrasting red rim accents on the front. The grab rail, body panels, and brand logos all carry racing styling.

It is worth noting that there are no mechanical changes from the SR 175 — the SR-GP Replica is a purely cosmetic and tech upgrade package atop the same engine and chassis.

Conclusion

The Aprilia SR-GP Replica is a compelling choice for riders who want sportbike aesthetics and exclusivity without seeking a full motorcycle. It packs the same tried-and-tested 175 cc platform — delivering class-competitive torque and drivability — now dressed in authentic MotoGP livery and upgraded with a TFT interface and Bluetooth connectivity.

This variant is best suited for urban commuters and moto-enthusiasts who prioritize style and tech over raw mechanical upgrades. As a limited-edition offering, its visual appeal and racing credentials deliver a distinct value proposition: a scooter that doesn’t just move you—but makes a statement while doing so.
