Bajaj Mobility AG: KTM’s Parent Company Officially Renamed
by | 17 Jan 2026
In a landmark development for the global motorcycle industry, Bajaj Mobility AG has emerged as the new identity of the company formerly known as Pierer Mobility AG, the parent organisation of Austrian powerhouse KTM AG. This renaming, effective January 13, 2026, formalises the completion of Bajaj Auto’s takeover of KTM and ushers in a new era of strategic direction for KTM, Husqvarna, and GASGAS under a unified corporate umbrella.
A New Chapter for the KTM Group
Bajaj Auto’s move to fully acquire control of KTM followed a series of strategic investments and regulatory approvals throughout 2025, culminating in the transfer of ownership from Pierer Industrie–led structures to Bajaj Auto International Holdings B.V. (BAIH), which now controls approximately 74.9 % of the group through Bajaj Mobility AG.
This corporate renaming signifies more than a change of signage. It reflects a broader restructuring aimed at stabilising KTM’s finances, strengthening global operations, and enhancing the competitive positioning of the group’s premium motorcycle brands, including off-road and street machines. The headquarters remain in Mattighofen, Austria, preserving the company’s European engineering heritage even as its strategic centre of gravity shifts.
Strategic Implications of the Bajaj Auto Takeover
For decades, KTM has been a leading name in high-performance motorcycles. However, recent years brought financial challenges, prompting KTM to pursue restructuring and partner more closely with Bajaj Auto—a long-standing collaborator. Bajaj’s investment and eventual takeover have provided the capital support needed to modernise operations and pursue aggressive global growth.
Under the Bajaj Mobility AG banner, the group aims to streamline decision-making and deepen strategic planning across its portfolio, from combustion-engine sport bikes to emerging electric-drive platforms. This shift is expected to bolster innovation pipelines and accelerate product launches tailored to diverse markets worldwide.
The rebrand also comes amid operational adjustments, including workforce realignment initiatives designed to reduce fixed costs and improve efficiency as part of the broader turnaround plan.
What This Means for Riders and the Market
For enthusiasts and industry observers, the transformation of Pierer Mobility AG into Bajaj Mobility AG marks a significant milestone in KTM’s journey. It reinforces Bajaj Auto’s commitment to enhancing KTM’s global footprint while maintaining the performance DNA that riders expect. With Husqvarna and GASGAS also under the same group, the combined portfolio has the potential to reach new customer segments and strengthen market share globally.
As Bajaj Mobility AG steers the group forward, the focus will be on leveraging combined strengths—Indian manufacturing scale and Austrian design excellence—to deliver compelling motorcycles for a new generation of riders.
