Honda Activa Electric Launch Timeline Revealed

News by Team Drivio | 21 Mar 2023

After recently bringing its first electric car to India, Honda is now finally all set to launch its first electric two-wheeler offering.

  • The upcoming Honda EV will be based on the Activa platform.
  • It could feature swappable batteries to make things easier for the customer.
  • That is mainly because of its partnership with HP.

Honda made a big announcement at the launch of the Shine 100. After revealing its plans to modernise the Activa 6G, the company also revealed the launch timeline for the Activa Electric.

Honda Activa Electric: Launch Date

On March 29, the company announced its plans for electric two-wheelers in India.

While the Japanese automaker hasn't said much about its first EV, it's likely to be a scooter. Honda's most popular model is the Activa, so it only makes sense for the company to create an electric version of the same.

Furthermore, Atsushi Ogata, President and CEO of Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India, stated that the company will launch its first electric scooter in 2024. So, on March 29, we can expect a small announcement about the same.

Honda Activa Electric: Range & Battery

The Honda Activa Electric will most likely be built on the same platform as the Activa 125 and Activa 6G. As a result, expect the same chassis with modifications to accommodate the new powertrain.

It could carry a range of just under 100km to go up against its rivals. Given its partnership with HP, the Activa electric could be equipped with swappable batteries. That said, swappable batteries will require a substantial amount of infrastructure and we hope Honda is able to achieve it before the scooter’s launch.

Honda Activa Electric: Price & Rivals

The Honda Activa Electric is scheduled to go on sale in March 2024, with a starting price of Rs 1.10 lakh (ex-showroom).

Once here, it will attempt to compete with Okinawa, Vida and Hero Electric scooters in terms of pricing and performance.
