CFMoto 450MT India Launch Delayed: E20 Compliance Pushes Back Festive Debut

by | 20 Sep 2025

The much-anticipated CFMoto 450MT India launch has been delayed beyond the festive season as the manufacturer works to make the bike compliant with India’s new E20 fuel norms. Originally expected to hit showrooms late in the year, the 450MT is undergoing technical changes—such as engine remapping and fuel system adjustments—to meet government mandates.

Engine & Performance

The 450MT is powered by a 449 cc parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine with a 270-degree firing order. It produces 44 bhp at 8,500 rpm and 44 Nm torque at 6,250 rpm, paired with a six-speed gearbox. To comply with India’s E20 fuel mandate, CFMoto is tweaking components such as the ECU and other fuel delivery mechanisms to handle the ethanol blend.

Chassis & Handling

The 450MT, in its global form, comes with adventure-ready hardware: wire-spoke wheels, long-travel front USD forks, a rear monoshock, and duty-suitable riding ergonomics. The curb/dry weight is around 175 kg, which helps in making it agile enough for both highway and moderate off-road use while staying manageable in city riding. Seat height is about 820 mm globally, which is typical in its class.

Technology & Features

Features include a full-LED lighting setup, TFT instrumentation, switchable dual-channel ABS, and possibly traction control, per reports. The design incorporates a 270-degree crank for a faux-V-twin feel, contributing to character and vibration control. Build quality impressions have been favourable in international reviews, especially considering the price point.

Pricing, Duties & Launch Timing

CFMoto plans to import the 450MT into India via the CKD (Completely Knocked Down) route, which will incur ~10% customs duty, plus an estimated 40% tax under the revised GST framework. Price expectations point to an ex-showroom figure around ₹3.99 lakh to remain competitive. Launch timing is now uncertain, with the festive season debut off the table until E20 compatibility work completes.

Rivals & Market Position

The 450MT will contend with bikes like the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450KTM 390 Adventure, and the upcoming BMW F450GS. In its favor are its twin-cylinder engine, relatively lightweight build, and feature set. Its success will depend heavily on how aggressively CFMoto prices it, how well its after-sales network is established, and whether it delivers the promised performance under Indian conditions.

Conclusion

The CFMoto 450MT delivers a compelling package for adventure-touring enthusiasts — a sweet-spot twin-cylinder engine, capable chassis, modern features, and a price point that could disrupt the segment. Its delayed arrival in India is largely due to regulatory change (E20 fuel compliance), which is understandable and ultimately in the interest of owners. For those eyeing rugged versatility, dependable performance and stylish adventure at under ₹4 lakh, the 450MT remains one to watch. Once fully compliant and properly supported, it could become a strong contender for riders wanting more than what current single-cylinder rivals offer.
