Honda teases a new technology on its social media handles, likely to debut with a new scooter

Honda has teased a glimpse of their new technology making its debut on January 23 this year, which might make its way into an all-new scooter.

Honda has confirmed the arrival of a new scooter in the Indian two-wheeler market, which is touted to get a new mild-hybrid technology. The new scooter from the Japanese two-wheeler giant will be launched on 23rd January 2023 and is expected to be a new iteration of the Honda Activa. The highly admired Honda Activa received its last update in 2020 as Activa 6G.

What is the technology teased by Honda for the new scooter?

In its teasers running live on its social media handles, Honda has revealed that the new technology to be introduced in its new scooter will be called ‘H-Smart’. It indicates that the new scooter will be introduced with a new technology which was never been seen in a Honda scooter to date. 

There are two possibilities for it – either the scooter might come with an idle start-stop system, or it may possess a mild hybrid technology. There is also a slight possibility that this new scooter might get a Bluetooth-operated connectivity system, which has become a common tech among scooters in India.

What will the new scooter be called?

Honda hasn’t revealed the name and other details of the upcoming scooter. However, considering that Activa received its last update in 2020 with the 6G version, it is said this new scooter will be the 7G update for the Activa. If this is the case, expect the new Honda Activa 7G to get mild tweaks to its design and features list. However, Honda might play safe by not making many changes to the tried-and-tested 110cc engine.

Launch date for a new scooter from Honda

Honda is not participating in the Auto Expo 2023 and has confirmed that this new product will be launched officially in India on 23rd January 2023. It is also possible that this new technology might be introduced in other scooters from Honda stable in later stages. Currently, Honda sells four scooters in India – Dio, Activa 6G, Activa 125, and the Grazia.
