KTM 390 Adventure & X Price Hike: What’s New & Why It Matters
by | 18 Nov 2025
KTM has quietly raised the prices of its 390 Adventure range, announcing a significant increase for both the standard 390 Adventure and its more budget-friendly 390 Adventure X variant. This move follows the earlier GST revision, and the new prices reflect the company’s decision to partially pass the burden back to customers.
What Exactly Has Changed?
- The standard KTM 390 Adventure now starts at ₹ 3.95 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), up by ₹ 27,000.
- The KTM 390 Adventure X, meanwhile, has been revised to ₹ 3.26 lakh, a hike of ₹ 22,410.
- According to reports, this decision comes after a period in which KTM absorbed the GST increase on 390cc bikes — but now, the buffer is being removed.
Engine & Performance
At the heart of both variants lies KTM’s 399 cc LC4c single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. It delivers 46 PS (≈ 45 BHP) at 8,500 rpm and 39 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm.
The transmission is a 6-speed gearbox equipped with a bi-directional Quickshifter+ and a slipper (assist) clutch — ensuring smooth and fast shifts.
Riders have noted a refined and tractable power delivery, with a strong mid-range and a gentle top-end punch.
Chassis & Handling
The 2025 Adventure lineup uses a lightweight steel trellis frame, offering improved rigidity and balance.
- Standard 390 Adventure: Runs on 21-inch front and 17-inch rear spoke wheels, making it more capable off-road.
- 390 Adventure X: Uses a 19-inch front and 17-inch rear alloy wheel setup, tuned for more on-road comfort.
Suspension for the standard model is fully adjustable, with WP APEX 43 mm USD forks and a monoshock, delivering 200 mm of travel up front and 205 mm in the rear.
Braking is handled via a 320 mm front disc and a 240 mm rear disc, supported by ABS for safety.
Technology & Features
Both variants are well-equipped with modern rider aids and electronics:
- A 5″ TFT display shows detailed ride stats and supports connectivity features.
- Ride-by-wire throttle improves response and control.
- Riding Modes: The standard model offers three — Street, Rain, and Off-road.
- Traction Control is present, allowing safer rides across varied terrain.
- Cornering ABS ensures lean-angle safety.
- Quickshifter+ enables clutchless upshifts, enhancing sporty ride experience.
- Slipper clutch helps in aggressive downshifts.
- The bike also includes a USB charger to power devices on the go.
Why the Price Hike — Behind the Decision
The main reason cited for the price increase is the GST revision: the tax rate on bikes above 350 cc has gone up significantly.
Earlier, KTM (through its partnership with Bajaj) absorbed this additional cost to keep its 390cc-range prices stable during the festive season.
Now, with that buffer removed, KTM is passing on part of that fiscal burden to customers.
Who Is This for — And Is It Still Worth It?
Despite the price hike, the KTM 390 Adventure remains a compelling pick for riders who want a lightweight, feature-rich adventure bike with genuine off-road ability. Its spoke wheels, powerful torque, and adjustable suspension make it ideal for touring and trail riding.
The 390 Adventure X, by contrast, is better suited for those who prefer on-road touring — its smaller wheel size and slightly lower seat height make it more accessible and manageable in city and highway environments.
If you were already planning to buy one, this might be a good time to act — the hike signals that KTM is realigning pricing after absorbing GST temporarily.
