The new and more affordable Chetak electric scooter that Bajaj has been reportedly working on for a while was recently spotted on test runs. In 2023, Bajaj discontinued the base trim of the Chetak EV, which was priced at Rs 1.22 lakh (ex-showroom) earlier. At the same time, the premium trip had its price slashed from Rs 1.52 lakh to Rs 1.3 lakh, becoming one of the most affordable high-quality made-in-India electric scooters. The base trim might potentially be resurrected in the form of the new and more pocket-friendly Chetak EV, which is expected to be priced around at Rs 1.15 lakh.

The affordable electric scooter currently features a mid-mounted BLDC motor with a set-down gearbox integrated into the swingarm.
