Pathaan actors Shah Rukh Khan and John Abraham ride Yamaha WR155R in a thrilling chase

Both the actors in the action-packed Bollywood movie Pathaan are seen riding Yamaha WR155R off-road motorcycles in a high-speed chasing scene over a frozen lake.

  • It is the first time that the Yamaha WR155R is shown in a Bollywood movie.
  • The Yamaha WR155R is an off-road motorcycle sharing its powertrain with YZF-R15 and MT-15.
  • The Yamaha WR155R is not available officially in India.

Bollywood action movies and motorcycles go hand in hand, and Yash Raj movies have an illustrious history of showing high-octane motorcycle chasing scenes. Following their trend, the upcoming ‘Pathaan’, starring Shah Rukh Khan and John Abraham in lead roles, has a similar action-packed motorcycle chasing scene aired in its trailer.

In this high-octane scene, Shah Rukh Khan is seen chasing John Abraham, with both actors riding a Yamaha WR155R, one of the entry-level off-road motorcycles from Yamaha.

What are the details of the scene showing the Yamaha WR155R in ‘Pathaan’ trailer?

The two actors are seen riding the Yamaha WR155Rs at high speeds over a frozen lake. However, there’s one more scene, in which Shah Rukh Khan is seen riding the same motorcycle while jumping over a military vehicle.

King Khan then drops a grenade inside the vehicle via its open sunroof while flying over it on his Yamaha WR155R motorcycle. Given that the background looks almost the same as the previous scene, this next scene looks like a follow-up or predecessor to the former.

What are the mechanical details of the Yamaha WR155R?

The Yamaha WR155R is one of those 150-160cc offerings, which are currently not available in India. While the engine is shared with the other 155cc offerings from Yamaha, the engine in the WR155R is in a different state of tune, producing 16.4 PS and 14.3 Nm, which are lesser than those of YZF-R15 and MT-15. However, with a kerb weight of 134 kg, it weighs lower than the other two 155cc Yamaha motorcycles, which should give it a better power-to-weight ratio.

Other things which differentiate it from the YZF-R15 and MT-15 include long-travel front and rear suspension, higher ground clearance, minimal and leaner bodywork, 21-inch front and 18-inch rear spoke wheels and off-road-spec tyres. The Yamaha WR155R is currently not being offered in India, and Yamaha has no plans to bring this motorcycle to Indian shores anytime soon.
