News by Team Drivio | 25 May 2023

It now boasts of a pair of removable batteries as well.

  • The range now stands at an impressive 225km.
  • Top speed is an impressive claimed 105kmph.
  • Fast charging for the scooter is slated to begin from August this year.

The One, an e-scooter from Bengaluru-based Simple Energy, has finally been released after making its debut in 2021.

Simple One Price & Rivals

The updated FAME-II subsidy and an additional Rs 13,000 for the 750 watt home charger have reduced the price of the Simple One to Rs 1.45 lakh. For comparison, the Ola S1 Pro costs Rs 1,24,999, while the Ather 450X with the Pro Pack costs Rs 1.45 lakh (all prices ex-showroom Bengaluru, including FAME-II subsidy). Yes, the TVS iQube ST is a rival as well, but there are no indications that it will go on sale any time soon.

Deliveries will begin in Bengaluru on June 6, 2023, and will then move on to other cities gradually.

What’s New On The Simple One?

A 4.5kW BLDC motor with a peak output of 8.5kW and a maximum torque of 72Nm powers the Simple model.

In conjunction with this motor is a 5kWh lithium-ion battery pack. The hybrid design features a fixed 1.3 kWh battery under the floorboard and a detachable 1.5 kWh battery in the underseat storage. The One, according to Simple, has a 212km range. It takes five hours and 54 minutes to charge to 80% with the home charger. A public charger is also accessible; it has a charging speed of 1.5 km/h and can provide a charge of up to 80%.

Verdict

Yes, the Simple One's introduction has been postponed for a while, but today, despite the price increase, it seems like an enticing option. In addition, it has obtained FAME-II subsidy thanks to its hybrid battery pack, which also makes it very practical to carry the battery and charger in locations where a wall-mounted charger is inaccessible. Can Simple Energy fulfil its new claims and has its quality improved? We'll discover it in due time.
