TVS Orbiter Price Hike: New Rates in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru & More

The TVS Orbiter price hike has added up to Rs 4,000 to the electric scooter's tag in India, and the size of the increase now depends on which state you're buying in. The Orbiter V1 costs Rs 3,700 more in Delhi, taking its ex-showroom price from Rs 87,800 to Rs 91,500, while the Orbiter V2 gets costlier by Rs 3,900 to Rs 4,000 depending on location, pushing its ex-showroom price to a range of Rs 1.06 lakh to Rs 1.13 lakh. TVS hasn't changed a single spec on the scooter — this is a straight price correction, and it lands at a time when EV buyers in India are already watching every rupee after the PM e-Drive subsidy window closed at the end of July.

The State-Wise Breakdown Nobody Else Is Showing

This is the part that actually matters if you're comparing quotes across cities, because the hike isn't uniform. In Delhi, the Orbiter V1 has gone from Rs 87,800 to Rs 91,500. In Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, it's moved from Rs 91,800 to Rs 95,500 — the same Rs 3,700 jump, just on a higher base. Maharashtra is the outlier: the V1 hasn't moved at all there and still costs Rs 91,800, likely because state-level EV incentives are absorbing part of the increase. The V2 tells a similar story. Delhi, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu all see a Rs 3,900 hike, while Maharashtra takes the biggest hit at Rs 4,000, bringing its ex-showroom price to around Rs 1.06 lakh against Delhi's roughly Rs 1.13 lakh. What You're Actually Paying Now

Nothing under the skin has changed. The V1 still runs a 1.8kWh battery good for a claimed 86km, and the V2 still carries the larger 3.1kWh pack rated at 158km, with both variants capped at 68kph and offering Eco and City ride modes. On-road, expect the Orbiter to land close to Rs 97,400 in Delhi and Rs 98,200 in Mumbai and Pune once registration and insurance are added, climbing past Rs 1.04 lakh in Hyderabad and touching Rs 1.11 lakh in Kolkata — city-level RTO charges swing this more than the scooter's own price does. TVS is pointing to production costs as the reason for the revision, the same explanation every two-wheeler brand has reached for this year, and there's no feature or hardware change to justify the number beyond that.

The EMI Math on the New Prices

Run the numbers at 20 percent down over 60 months at 11 percent interest — standard terms most lenders are quoting on EV two-wheelers right now — and here's where the hike actually shows up in your pocket. On the Delhi V1 at Rs 91,500, a down payment of Rs 18,300 leaves a loan of Rs 73,200, working out to an EMI of roughly Rs 1,592 a month. Move up to the Delhi V2 at around Rs 1,13,000, and a Rs 22,600 down payment against a Rs 90,400 loan brings the EMI to about Rs 1,965 a month. That's a gap of well under Rs 400 monthly between the two variants, small change against the extra 72km of range the V2's bigger battery buys you.

Running Costs Still Do the Heavy Lifting

Where the Orbiter earns its keep is after the purchase, not at it. At around Rs 8 per unit of household electricity, a full charge on the V2's 3.1kWh pack costs roughly Rs 25 and covers close to 112km in real-world city riding, a figure Autocar India clocked in its own test — well under the claimed 158km, but still efficient. Ride 1,000km a month on the V2 and electricity costs land near Rs 220-250. A 110cc petrol scooter covering the same distance at 45kmpl, with Delhi petrol sitting around Rs 103 a litre, would cost close to Rs 2,290 over that month. That difference alone claws back the entire price hike within a matter of weeks for anyone commuting daily.

How It Compares to the Competition Now

At roughly Rs 1.13 lakh in Delhi, the Orbiter V2 has crept past the Ather Rizta S, which starts near Rs 1.09 lakh and comes with a wider public fast-charging network behind it. The Bajaj Chetak 3001 sits a notch higher again, closer to Rs 1.15 lakh, with a metal body TVS doesn't offer here. On pure value, the Ola S1 X+ still undercuts the Orbiter V2 by a meaningful margin, and TVS's own Vida VX2 starts under Rs 85,000 — cheaper than even the hiked Orbiter V1, though with a smaller battery to match. The Orbiter's case rests on its 34-litre underseat storage and standard cruise control and hill-hold assist, features some rivals still reserve for their top trims. Should You Book Now?

A Rs 3,700-4,000 hike isn't enough to change the calculus for most buyers, especially with the running-cost gap over petrol scooters still this wide. The V1 remains the sharper buy for short city commutes, and Maharashtra buyers get a small window where the V1's price hasn't moved at all — worth acting on before the next revision catches up.
