Two-wheeler Sales July 2023: Honda, Suzuki Report Increased Sales

Save for Honda and Suzuki, the rest of the manufacturers reported declines in their sales figures in July 2023, with Bajaj Auto suffering the maximum loss in MoM sales numbers. 

  • Honda and Suzuki showed marginal improvement in their MoM sales.
  • Bajaj Auto and Hero MotoCorp suffered double-digit declines in their MoM sales.
  • TVS and Royal Enfield recorded minimal declines in the same duration.

July is always considered to be a challenging month for the Indian automotive industry, and this year too, the performance recorded by two-wheeler manufacturers was just above average. 

Hero MotoCorp Sales: 3,71,204 units

While Hero MotoCorp led the Indian two-wheeler market with 4,22,757 units, the month-on-month (MoM) performance saw the brand recording a decline of 12.19 per cent. Even the year-on-year (YoY) sales saw a drop of 13.81 per cent in sales numbers.

Hero MotoCorp will launch the awaited, all-new Karizma XMR 210 on August 29, in the country.

Honda Sales: 3,10,867 units

The largest gainer this month was Honda, which recorded a marginal MoM growth of 2.68 per cent. However, the Japanese major recorded a drop of 12.57 per cent in YoY sales. 

Honda has been registering decent sales for Honda Shine 100 and Honda SP125 in recent months. The company is expected to launch Honda SP160, based on Honda Unicorn 160, in August 2023.

TVS Sales: 2,32,956 units

TVS recorded a marginal drop of 0.02 per cent in its MoM sales. However, in terms of YoY sales, the brand posted a growth of 16.48 per cent.

A new low cost variant of TVS iQube electric scooter will soon be launched by the leading two-wheeler maker. 

Bajaj Auto Sales: 1,41,990 units

Among all the brands, Bajaj Auto suffered the most, with drop of 14.61 per cent in its MoM sales and a edgrowth of 13.62 sales in YoY sales.

Bajaj Auto has been in news for their macho and menacing Pulsar line-up that includes bikes like the Pulsar 220F, Pulsar NS200,Pulsar N160,Pulsar NS160,Pulsar 150,Pulsar NS125, Pulsar 125, and others.

Suzuki Sales: 80,309 units

Another brand which recorded growth in its MoM sales was Suzuki, as it posted a massive 27.35 per cent growth compared to its last month’s sales. Even the YoY sales saw an impressive growth of 31.89 per cent.

Suzuki motorcycles and scooter line-up includes the likes of Suzuki Access 125, Suzuki Gixxer 150, Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 and more.

Royal Enfield Sales: 66,062 units

While the cult brand witnessed a drop of 2.12 per cent in MoM sales, the YoY sales saw a massive jump of 41.98 per cent.

After the success of Meteor 350 and Meteor 650, Royal Enfield is expected to launch new Himalayan 450 in August.
