Upcoming Honda 100cc bike launch on March 15, will take on Hero Splendor

News by Team Drivio | 1 Mar 2023

Honda plans to re-enter the 100cc space with a model that’ll have the Hero Splendor in its crosshair, promising a price tag that’ll be extremely affordable.

  • The new 100cc Honda commuter could be called the Shine 100.
  • Honda might even equip it with a sloper engine.
  • The Splendor rival could carry a sub-Rs 65,000 ex-showroom price.

Honda is prepping up to launch its much-anticipated 100cc commuter in India soon! The Japanese bike maker’s ‘block your date invite’ is scheduled for March 15, 2023, asking us to, pointing to the fact that Honda could very well name the bike as ‘Shine 100’, banking on the Shine's tried-and-true legacy. And why not, as the Honda Shine is, in fact, the best-selling 125cc motorcycle in India.

What will the new Honda commuter bike have to offer?

First up, what the bike will definitely have is an enticing price tag. And given how price-sensitive the Indian motorcycle market is, a good price is half the battle won.

A sloper engine, which Honda India hasn't used since the 1990s, could also make its debut in the upcoming bike. This format will not only save money, but will also allow Honda to charge a price that will 'positively shock' us, as they have promised. This could even evoke nostalgia in enthusiasts who remember these bulletproof and fuel-efficient engines from the 1990s.

What will be the new 100cc Honda bike price after its launch?

If the upcoming bike is aiming for the ever-popular Hero Splendor, flawless pricing will be essential. If Honda manages to use the full potential of this engine, an aggressive price tag of under Rs 65,000 (ex-showroom) could be on the cards. When it arrives, it will compete with the Hero HF 100, HF Deluxe, and the Bajaj Platina 100.
