Greaves might be one of the oldest industries in India, but it has made a relatively recent entry into mobility solutions with its brand Ampere Electric. The Magnus EX is one of the first scooters from Ampere, which aims at budget-oriented scooter buyers with its affordable pricing and decent power and range on offer.
Priced at Rs 81,900, the Ampere Magnus EX ranks as one of the most affordable scooters in India. However, does the affordable pricing means that it comes with its share of compromises? We dig into all the details of this scooter to find out if it is worth the asking price.
Ampere Magnus EX: Design & Features
In terms of design, Ampere Electric has played it safe with the Magnus EX. The scooter looks decent, and while it has a very generic design, it doesn’t look unappealing. The front and side body panels of the Ampere Magnus EX look sleek, with its compact dimensions making it an easy-to-ride scooter.
At the front, the Ampere Magnus EX has a sloping design for the front apron, which comes with chrome garnish on either side of the middle. This V-shaped chrome panel in the middle of the front apron also houses daytime running LEDs and turn indicators. The headlamp is placed within the handlebar cowl and also comes with chrome garnish above it.
The side body panels of the Ampere Magnus EX look plain and are free of sharp creases and curves, making it look not so dramatic in its appearance. At the back, the Magnus EX has a wraparound design for the tail lamp cluster, above which it gets a huge alloy grab rail for the pillion rider. The Magnus EX also has a compact-sized fully-digital instrument console, with information like speed, battery level and odometer on offer.

he Ampere Magnus EX sources its power from a cost-effective hub-mounted setup of a 2.1 kW electric motor integrated into its rear wheel. While this speed might sound unimpressive at first, the Magnus EX feels decent on the go and doesn’t make you feel too slow at city speeds. The throttle calibration is nicely done, and the power delivery of the Magnus EX doesn’t feel jerky while riding.
