Hero Xoom 125R To Launch Soon: Key Things To Keep In Mind

Featured Stories by Team Drivio | Mar 15, 2024

In terms of design, the Xoom 125R looks a lot like its younger sibling, the Xoom 110

  • The Xoom 125R’s 124.6cc engine makes 9.4PS and 10.16Nm
  • At 120kg, the Xoom 125R is quite light
  • In terms of features, it even has Bluetooth connectivity

Hero's forthcoming scooter, the Xoom 125R, possesses numerous commendable attributes, with its appealing design at the forefront. In India's competitive market, aesthetics play a pivotal role, significantly influencing consumer preferences. Thus, the Xoom 125R emerges as a compelling choice for individuals seeking more than just ordinary commuter vehicles within the 125cc scooter segment. Below encapsulates everything essential to acquaint yourself with this promising model:

It’s attractive

The Hero Xoom 125R is one good-looking scooter and it is for obvious reasons. The design language has been inspired by the Xoom 110, meaning it retains all the sharp cuts and creases from the Xoom 110 as well. And what that also means is that it will get the same aggressive LED headlight that is quite similar to the one on the Hero Karizma XMR as well. That said, we are not complaining since the LED headlight looks really aggressive and sporty, in line with Xoom’s overall design.

All of that is a good thing. Because if the Xoom 125R wants to take on the premium 125cc scooter segment, good looks is an absolute must. And that is because it will be taking on the king of the segment, the TVS NTorq 125, which itself is one of India’s best-looking scooters. So a good, modern design is almost a must and we are glad Hero did not go for a more conventional design, something like the TVS Jupiter or even the Honda Activa 6G

It’ll have a potent engine

The Hero Xoom 125R’s engine makes 9.4PS and 10.16Nm and those are quite healthy numbers. This engine is likely a derivative of the Hero Xtreme 125R’s 125cc engine but detuned a bit to suit the Xoom 125R’s nature. How that will also help is that it will ensure that the Xoom 125R returns a much better mileage than the Xtreme 125R. So in terms of mileage, we expect it to be around the 60kmpl mark for the Xoom 125R.

Talking about the engine, we quite liked it in the Xtreme 125R. It is torquey and that means riding it in the city should be quite effortless. If you are a gear or even two gears higher, the engine has enough torque to ensure the bike surges ahead without much fuss. The highlight though, was its smoothness. The Xtreme 125R felt butter smooth right up to its redline and the only vibes that we felt were at the very top, when you are revving the bike out, something it is not really meant for.

It should be quite comfortable too

Given that the Xoom 125R will share cycle parts from the Xoom 110, we expect it to be quite comfortable as well. Sure, the Xoom 110 does not seem to be a large or sizeable scooter but it is large enough even for larger riders to fit on it well. The seat is decently sized and has really nice cushioning, meaning spending even longer durations of time in the seat should not be an issue. Hence, for the bad days when you are stuck in a long traffic jam, the Xoom 125R should keep you nice and comfortable.

We think the Xoom will even get underpinnings like its telescopic fork as well as monoshock from the Xoom 110 and again, that is definitely not a bad thing. The Xoom 110 was a lovely handler and the fork and shock felt perfectly damped. So if the Xoom 125R benefits from the same, that would make the Xoom 125R a lovely handler as well.

And that, again, is very important because it will be taking on the TVS NTorq 125, which is one of the best handling scooters in India. The icing on the cake would be if Hero equips the Xoom 125R with good tyres, maybe units from TVS Eurogrip.

Expected Price & Rivals

Model NameExpected Price (ex-showroom Delhi)
Hero Xoom 125RRs 1 lakh

Hero is all set to launch the Xoom 125R in the first half of 2024. We think its launch should happen around April-May 2024. As for its price, it’ll be around the Rs 1 lakh mark, ex-showroom. That means, it will go up against the likes of the TVS NTorq 125 and the Suzuki Access 125
