With its list of features, customisable options and reasonable price, the River Indie presents itself as quite a compelling EV.

  • The River Indie has a large 6.7kW motor and 4kWh battery pack
  • Its battery takes a claimed five hours to charge up to 80 percent, while delivering a 120km real-world range
  • It competes with rivals like Ola S1, Ather 450X, and Hero Vida V1.

River, a Bangalore-based electric mobility start-up, has launched River Indie - its first electric scooter in the country. The Indie presents itself as an aspirational product that’s also utility-driven. The budding EV brand’s first scooter can help it cement its position in the extremely-competitive e-scooter market.

What the River Indie have to offer?

The River Indie has quite some elements that’ll appeal to the Indian crowd. At the heart of it is a 6.7kW (peak) motor capable of propelling the scooter to a claimed top speed of 90kmph.

The 4kWh battery pack provides a claimed real-world range of 120km and can be charged up to 80 percent in five hours using a standard charger. Befitting its tagline 'The SUV of Scooters', the River Indie gets beefy 14-inch wheels.

What are features accessible on River Indie?

In terms of features, the Indie’s 6-inch LCD console is a fully digital one and allows you to toggle between the three riding modes- Eco, Ride and Rush. That said, the console shown by Indie isn’t the final one and the production-ready scooter will have a console with improved user interface.

All in all, the River Indie comes off as a large, muscular, and rugged scooter. It presents itself as a lifestyle electric scooter, one that has many accessories to play with. Under the Indie’s seat is a massive 43-litre storage capacity, 12-litre glove box and two USB charging ports further add to the convenience.
