Ather 450S Price And Launch Details Revealed

The new base variant is priced at meaty Rs 1,29,999 (ex-showroom, Bangalore).

Ather, the electric scooter manufacturer, has introduced a new model called the 450S. Despite the addition of an 'S' to its name, this e-scooter does not offer any enhanced performance compared to the 450X. In fact, it comes with a smaller battery pack.

Currently, there is limited information available about the 450S. What we do know is that it features a slightly reduced battery capacity of 3kWh, whereas the 450X comes with a 3.7kWh battery pack. As a result, the 450S has a claimed Indian Driving Cycle (IDC) range of 115km on a single charge, while the 450X boasts a range of 146km according to IDC standards.

During a range test, the 450X achieved approximately 142km on a single charge, leading us to believe that the 450S will offer a decent range as well. The starting price for the 450S is Rs 1,29,999, whereas the base model of the 450X, without the ProPack features, costs Rs 1,44,921 (both prices are ex-showroom Bangalore). Adding the ProPack to the 450X brings the total cost to Rs 1,65,435 (ex-showroom Bangalore).

Given that the Ather 450S is positioned as the most affordable Ather e-scooter, it is unlikely to include many features from the ProPack. At its current price point, the 450S competes with the Ola S1, TVS iQube S, and Vida V1 Pro, which are mid-spec and flagship scooters.
