BMW F 450 GS Launch Delayed: India Bike Week 2025 Debut Cancelled
by | 6 Dec 2025
The eagerly anticipated BMW F 450 GS — billed as BMW’s next-gen entry-level adventure motorcycle — was expected by many to debut at India Bike Week 2025. Recent reports confirm that BMW has pulled out of the event and shifted the official Indian launch to early 2026. Fans who hoped to ride the F 450 GS soon will now have to wait a few more months.
What Changed — Launch Timeline & Booking Status
Local dealers have already opened unofficial bookings for the F 450 GS with refundable token amounts between ₹10,000 and ₹50,000.
However, the official launch will not happen at India Bike Week. The best-case estimate now suggests an Indian launch in January 2026, with deliveries commencing by late February 2026.
Technical Profile
Engine & Performance
The BMW F 450 GS is powered by a new 420 cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine. It produces about 48 hp at 8,750 rpm and 43 Nm torque at 6,750 rpm — figures confirmed in multiple official disclosures.
Power is transmitted through a 6-speed gearbox. The engine aims to deliver a balance of manageable mid-range torque and rev-happy performance, making it suitable for both city rides and touring.
Chassis & Handling
Under the skin, BMW uses a tubular-steel frame with the engine as a stressed member, which helps keep the chassis compact and rigid.
Suspension includes a 43 mm USD (upside-down) front fork and a rear mono-shock, both with adjustable damping on certain variants.
Braking uses a 310 mm front disc with a 4-piston caliper and a 240 mm rear disc, backed by ABS (corner-optimized, BMW Motorrad ABS Pro) for safety.
The bike rides on 19-inch front and 17-inch rear cast alloy wheels, favourable for a mix of road and light off-road or gravel use.
Features & Equipment
BMW equips the F 450 GS with a modern 6.5-inch TFT display, supporting smartphone connectivity and other essential rider aids.
Lighting is all-LED, and the styling borrows design cues from its bigger GS siblings — including a distinctive beak-style front cowl and sharp bodywork.
Important conveniences like Quickshifter Pro, semi-automatic gearbox option, ride modes, and protective gear on higher variants hint at BMW’s intention to deliver a “premium-but-affordable” small-capacity adventure bike.
Fuel capacity is 14 litres, and official WLTC-cycle consumption is around 3.8 l/100 km — which translates to a practical real-world touring range of 350 + km per tank.
Price & Positioning in India
Because it will be manufactured locally at TVS Motor Company’s plant (in Hosur), the F 450 GS is expected to be priced competitively. Dealers currently indicate an ex-showroom price around ₹4.0–4.5 lakh, putting on-road price in typical metros within the ₹5.0–5.5 lakh band (initial demand may push it a bit higher).
That pricing — combined with twin-cylinder refinement and rich features — positions F 450 GS as an attractive replacement for the older single-cylinder entry-level ADV bikes, filling the mid-capacity adventure segment gap below BMW’s larger GS models.
What the Delay Means for Buyers & Enthusiasts
For riders expecting a festive-season delivery in late 2025, the delay to early 2026 may be disappointing. However, the extra time could allow BMW to ramp up production and ensure smoother supply, possibly softening prices and offering better availability after launch.
Given its combination of twin-cylinder character, manageable weight, modern tech and local manufacturing, the F 450 GS now seems set to be one of the most balanced mid-capacity adventure bikes in India.
For enthusiasts looking for a capable “go-anywhere” machine in the ₹5-6 lakh range, waiting for the F 450 GS could be worth it.
