Leaked homologation documents reveal more details about the Gogoro 2 and Gogoro 2 Plus.

  • The Gogoro 2 and Gogoro 2 Plus have 6.4kW and 7.2kW motors respectively.
  • The two feature a claimed top speed of 87kmph.
  • The range of both the scooters stands at 85km and 94km.

Gogoro, a Taiwanese electric scooter and battery swapping tech firm, announced its India entry late last year in a B2B partnership with Zypp Electric. According to homologation documents, the Gogoro 2 and Gogoro 2 Plus have now been type approved in the country. However, the scooters are not manufactured in India. They are manufactured in Taiwan by Gogoro and are intended for a trial run in the B2B logistics sector.

What is the difference between Gogoro 2 and Gogoro 2 Plus?

When it comes to e-scooters, there are subtle differences between the two. While the 2 Plus produces 6.4kW, the Gogoro 2's motor produces 7.2kW. (both continuous). However, the former is rated to deliver a range of 94km, while the latter claims a range of 85km. These figures place it in the same ballpark as the TVS iQube S.

What are the dimensions and top speed of Gogoro scooters?

The 87kmph top speed, gross vehicle weight of 273kg (including the kerb weight of the scooter and the rider), 1,890mm length, 670mm width, and 1,110mm height are shared by both variants. The dimensions of the e-scooters are identical, with a 1295mm wheelbase. For comparison, the 2 e-scooter is longer than the TVS Jupiter 125, which has the segment's longest wheelbase of 1275mm.

While these e-scooters will not be available to the general public anytime soon, the pilot run will allow Gogoro to test their capabilities on Indian roads. As a result, the company will be able to iron out all of the issues before entering the private EV segment. Gogoro is well-known for its efficient battery-swapping technology, which will be a game changer once it becomes popular in India due to its ability to swap batteries in 10 seconds.
