2023 Hero Passion XPro Review: Smooth &Punchy

Reviews by Team Drivio | 27 May 2023

The Passion XPro now flaunts a reworked chassis for better manoeuvrability and steer across urban roads.

  • Latest Hero Passion XPro is bestowed with revamped design language.
  • Its built-quality could have been made better.
  • In terms of mileage though, the bike has hit the ball out of the park.

The 100-110cc category, which has two sub-segments, is particularly fascinating. One of them has simpler, more cost-effective products, whereas the other has motorcycles with a little more flair and features. In Hero's instance, the popular Splendour falls under the first group, whilst the Passion offer a more upscale shopping experience. We have occasionally witnessed the Passion evolve over the past two decades, but nothing quite like the 2020 Passion XPro.

Hero Passion XPro: Design & Features

Even though aesthetics are subjective, the BS6 Passion XPro is undeniably attractive, at least when compared to its pricing. The portion of the vehicle connecting the tank to the headlamp has undergone a complete overhaul. In essence, the precise surface modifications and contrasting colours that draw attention to the front fascia make the cowling around the headlamp appear sleeker.

Additionally, the tank and its extensions have been updated to holding 10-litres of petrol – 1.8 litres more than before – it also has a sharper appearance. You could travel a great distance if you combine this with an economical engine. Overall, because of its dual-tone paint schemes, which really make the bike sparkle, it genuinely stands out in comparison to its more practical competition.

While the Xtec model's headlight is an LED projector, the Hero Passion XPro's is a halogen bulb. A real-time mileage indicator is added to the semi-digital information console's standard edition. The Passion XPro comes equipped with Hero's i3S engine idle start-stop technology as standard. The Xtec receives a fully digital instrument console with Bluetooth connectivity that offers real-time mileage indicator, low fuel alarms, missed and incoming phone notifications, message alerts, and service reminders.

Hero Passion XPro: Engine & Gearbox

Maximum torque9.8Nm
Transmission4-speed

Since the implementation of BS6 emission standards, an increase in displacement to offset performance loss has largely been accepted as the norm throughout the industry. As a result, the Passion XPro now has a fuel-injected, somewhat larger engine (113cc as compared to 109.15cc). While doing so increases the torque the bike can produce, some horsepower is lost.

Although the bike may not have much raw power, the torque develops quickly, giving the Passion a more alive and urgent feeling. Additionally, the disc form weighs 1 kg less than before, at 118 kg. And our performance tests clearly show the final outcome. It is by far the fastest 110cc motorcycle we've tried.

Another significant improvement is the new diamond frame, which replaces the earlier Passion XPro's twin-downtube frame. The motorcycle now feels more responsive in terms of how it handles as a result. Because of its extended wheelbase, the Passion XPro also feels more secure and grounded. Although you won't feel very confident driving on the slim 80/100-18 tyres at either end, you'll find yourself slowing down for curves, especially in the rain.

The improved ground clearance of 180mm on the Passion XPro should be adequate even on deteriorated village roads. The suspension travel, which Hero claims has increased by 10% at the back and 14% at the front, will also be helpful in this situation. While the rear is a little firmer than anticipated, the ends are both extremely absorbent. Hero undoubtedly made this adjustment to help the bike when the rear is loaded.

Verdict

The Passion XPro has a lot going for it in terms of fuel economy, performance, and appearance, but its general quality and dependability fall short. Despite having a sporty appearance, it lacks features compared to its competitors and feels less quality.

It is also the most expensive option among the three motorcycles in this situation when the cost is taken into account. So, for whom is the Passion XPro intended? If you're looking for something for your everyday journeys that looks rather dashing and has the performance to make you grin, it's the ideal fit.

This claim also benefits from the simplicity of usage made possible by i3S and Auto Sail. Of course, you can only do that if you're ready to pay more for it than the alternatives.
