TVS Apache RTX Launched at ₹1.99 Lakh — First Look & Specs

by | 16 Oct 2025

TVS Motor has officially entered the adventure-touring segment with the launch of the TVS Apache RTX at an introductory ex-showroom price of ₹1.99 lakh. Built around a new RT-XD4 platform, this model is intended to be a premium adventure tourer offering serious performance and tech in a competitive segment. In this article, we dive into what makes the Apache RTX 300 stand out in terms of engine, handling, and features.

Engine & Performance

At its heart lies a newly developed 299.1 cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled DOHC engine, part of TVS’s RT-XD4 family. The engine delivers ≈ 36 PS at 9,000 rpm (35.5 PS often quoted) and 28.5 Nm of torque at 7,000 rpm. Power is transmitted via a 6-speed gearbox with assist & slipper clutch and a bi-directional quickshifter. The throttle setup is ride-by-wire, enabling smooth response and integration with riding modes.

The tuning emphasizes usability across rev ranges rather than aggressive peak hit, aimed at real-world touring use.

Chassis & Handling

The Apache RTX uses a steel trellis frame coupled with a die-cast aluminium swingarm to balance rigidity and weight efficiency. Suspension is by a 41 mm upside-down WP fork up front and a floating-piston monoshock at the rear. Both ends claim about 180 mm travel, contributing to 200 mm ground clearance. Wheel setup is dual-purpose with a 19-inch front and 17-inch rear alloy wheels wrapped in dual-purpose tyres. Braking is via dual disc setup with dual-channel ABS and switchable modes. The kerb weight is ~180 kg, and the seat height is 835 mm — a tall ergonomics package but not uncommon in the adventure class.

Technology & Features

In line with modern expectations, TVS has packed the RTX with advanced electronics. A 5-inch TFT display (in higher variants) supports Bluetooth, map mirroring, call/SMS alerts, and GoPro control. Four ride modes—Urban, Rain, Tour, Rally—alter engine, ABS, and traction control behavior. There are switchable traction control modes (2 levels), cruise control, and TPMS in the top BTO variant. Lighting is fully LED with Class D headlamp and DRLs in top trims. Variant-wise, the base gets essential features, the Top adds TFT, DRLs and quickshifter, while the BTO adds adjustable suspension and TPMS.

Variants come in Base (₹1.99 lakh)Top (₹2.14 lakh), and Built-to-Order (BTO, ₹2.29 lakh, ex-showroom). TVS also offers modular accessories such as panniers, crash guards, bash plates, and luggage mounts.

Comparing its competition, the Apache RTX undercuts or matches rivals like Suzuki V-Strom SX and Yezdi Adventure, and competes with KTM 250 Adventure in pricing and features.

In summary, the TVS Apache RTX is a strong first entry into the adventure-rally tourer segment by TVS, combining a capable new 299 cc RT-XD4 engine, modern electronics, and a chassis tuned for ride versatility. Its pricing is aggressive, especially in the base variant, making it an attractive option for riders seeking a feature-rich, mid-capacity adventure bike. The tall ergonomics and 180 kg kerb weight mean it suits experienced, confident riders more than beginners. For those looking to explore highway touring with occasional light off-road capability, the Apache RTX offers a compelling value proposition — especially given TVS’s after-sales network and accessory ecosystem.
