Kinetic Group is set to relaunch its iconic 'Luna' moped in an electric avatar next month

  • Electric revolution promising iconic ‘Luna’ for a comeback
  • Bookings open from February at Rs 500 only
  • The move aims to cash in on nostalgia and demand for affordable e-mobility

Back with a Jingle

The company has roped in ad veteran Piyush Pandey, creator of the famous “Chal Meri Luna” jingle, to recreate the old magic in a new electric version. With a marketing budget of Rs 150 crore, Kinetic is betting big on the e-Luna to revive the brand.

Bookings Open at Rs 500

Kinetic has announced that bookings for the e-Luna will open from next month at an initial booking amount of just Rs 500. This strategic pricing makes the electric moped accessible to a wide range of buyers.

Variants and Pricing

The e-Luna will be offered in three variants with different battery pack options. The base variant will have a 2kWh battery delivering 80km range, while the mid variant will have a 1.5kWh battery with 40-45km range aimed at Tier 2/3 cities. The top-end variant will sport a 3kWh battery with 100-125km range.

Though pricing is yet to be announced, Kinetic has indicated that the e-Luna will be affordably priced with EMI of around Rs 2,500 per month. The company is targeting a monthly income group of Rs 25,000-30,000 who use public transport or shared mobility.

Production and Sales Targets

Kinetic plans to invest Rs 500 crore over next 3 years to scale up production capacities and roll out new products. It has set an ambitious sales target of 5,000 units per month for the e-Luna, which could generate annual revenues of Rs 30 crore.

At its peak, Kinetic's ICE Luna sold 2,000 units daily and commanded 95% market share in the moped segment. The e-Luna will be formally launched in Delhi next month in the presence of Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways.

Green Mobility Focus

The e-Luna launch aligns with Kinetic Group's focus on green mobility solutions. With bookings from just Rs 500, nostalgia and accessible pricing as key drivers, Kinetic hopes to revive the Luna magic in its new electric avatar.
