  • Those who have fond memories about the E-Luna will adore this news
  • As for the range, Kinetic Green claims that it will be around 90km
  • Prices for the E-Luna begin from Rs 69,990 (ex-showroom)

Kinetic Green has made headlines with the delivery of 130 units of its latest E-Luna electric moped to BigBasket in Pune. These electric mopeds are tailor-made for commercial use and will function as delivery vehicles for Safe and Secure Delivery Solutions, the official delivery partner of Big Basket. The incorporation of E-Luna into the delivery fleet is expected to significantly reduce BigBasket’s carbon footprint while offering a more cost-effective alternative compared to petrol-powered bikes or scooters.

The Kinetic E-Luna comes in two variants: the E-Luna X1 priced at Rs 69,990 and the E-Luna X2 priced at Rs 74,990 (both prices ex-showroom, applicable for general consumers). Buyers can choose from five colour options: Mulberry Red, Ocean Blue, Pearl Yellow, Sparkling Green, and Night Star Black.

The E-Luna X1 features a 1.7kWh lithium-ion battery pack with a claimed range of 90km, charging from 0 to 100 percent in just 3 hours. On the other hand, the X2 variant is equipped with a 2kWh lithium-ion battery pack offering a claimed range of 110km and takes 4 hours for a full charge. Kinetic Green has also hinted at introducing an E-Luna variant with a larger 3kWh battery pack for extended range in the future.

Anticipating a substantial market demand, Kinetic Green forecasts sales of over 50,000 E-Luna electric mopeds in the e-commerce and delivery sectors for the fiscal years 2024-2025. To cater to this demand, the company plans to roll out its 'E-Luna Fleet' corporate program, ensuring comprehensive service and spare part availability through its extensive network of 350 dealerships.

Moreover, Kinetic Green has collaborated with KG Connect, an IT platform, to offer real-time GPS tracking and vehicle performance diagnostics. The company also provides an extended 5-year warranty and has established partnerships for finance options, fast charging, and battery swapping.

Notably, in 2020, BigBasket had already introduced a fleet of Ampere electric scooters, including the Ampere Zeal, customized with a rear storage box, for its delivery operations in various cities across India.

Subsequently, in 2021, Zypp Electric forged partnerships with over 20 grocery, e-retail, and food delivery brands, including BigBasket and Grofers, to provide electric scooters capable of carrying loads up to 200kg. This initiative included the setup of over 50 battery-swapping stations in major cities like Delhi, Gurgaon, Ghaziabad, Noida, Faridabad, and Jaipur.
