BGauss D15 Review: Affordable and A Fair Amount Of Fun

Reviews by Team Drivio | 27 May 2023

The BGaussD15 price start from Rs 99,999, and gets lithium ion battery pack

  • That makes it quite an affordable proposition in the EV segment.
  • It is cheaper than the Ather 450X, Ola S1 Pro and even the TVS iQube S.
  • The scooter is on sale in two different variants.

Chinese imports with new labels are currently overrunning the Indian electric two-wheeler market. It is the simplest and least expensive method of entering the present EV market. However, the thing that really annoyed is how similar most of these scooters are to one another.

With the D15 Lithium ion, BGauss hopes to alter this perception. This small, svelte electric scooter has a lot going for it. But is it truly worth Rs 99,999?

BGauss D15: Design & Features

With its large 16-inch alloy wheels and main stand, the BGauss D15 has a vintage moped-like appearance. It has a ring-shaped DRL around its circular headlamp, which is encased in a chrome bezel.

Along with grab grips that have chrome accents, the instrument console also has a chrome outline. The manufacturer's flagship e-scooter, the BGauss D15, is designed for customers who want pleasant longer-distance trips in addition to shorter city commuting. It has a roomy floorboard and a large, well-cushioned single-piece seat.

The BGauss D15 has all-LED illumination and an IP67-rated modular battery and motor, which are waterproof and dustproof. Its entire body is composed of rust-proof metal, and it is the first electric scooter in India to include both a side-stand sensor and a rollover sensor. The D15 sports a USB port situated on the apron, a limp-home mode, two riding modes, reverse mode, and an anti-rollback (hill-hold) feature, among other features.

A fully digital instrument console with IOT connectivity through a smartphone is included with the e-scooter. The BGauss App gives details on the battery condition of the car, remaining charging time, remaining mileage till empty, a service prompt, an anti-theft alarm, and the availability of charging stations nearby. Through the BGauss mobile app, the D15 may easily obtain firmware updates.

The D15's engine has a maximum output of 3.1 kW and 110 Nm, and the e-scooter has an ARAI-certified range of about 115 km. The BGauss boasts a top speed of 60 kmph and a 0–40 kmph time of seven seconds. The D15 is constructed on a tubular steel frame that is supported by twin, 3-step preload-adjustable rear shock absorbers and a telescopic front fork. Drum units are used for braking at both ends. The bike has alloy wheels of 16 inches that are fitted with tubeless tyres. The e-scooter has a 765mm seat height, a respectable 175mm ground clearance, and a kerb weight of 109kg.

Although it has drum brakes on both ends, they do the job well for a scooter of this size. They support the scooter's anchoring but also frequently lock up.

As soon as you remove the side stand, the BGauss D15 seems incredibly light and almost manageable. Since the scooter is small in stature, getting used to it takes some time. And once you do, riding it is a blast. You can toss it around in city traffic and manoeuvre through with the utmost ease because it is incredibly flickable—at times, alarmingly so.

Additionally, moving it around in the parking lot is simple. Even better, the scooter has a 2 kph reverse mode that makes backing it out of small spots even easier. Even the 175mm ground clearance is more than enough to scale almost all the gigantic speed breakers our roads have for us in store.

BGaussD15: Price

ModelEx-showroom
BGauss D15iRs 99,999
BGauss D15 ProRs 1,14,999

There are two versions of the BGauss D15: the D15i, which costs Rs 99,999, and the D15 Pro, which costs Rs 1,14,999 (ex-showroom). The Metallic Red, Pearl White, Metallic Blue, Moss Green, and a two-tone Black and Silver combination are the five hues available for this e-scooter.

Verdict

The BGauss D15, the company's ambitious flagship product designed to compete in the major leagues, offers respectable performance metrics along with a generous helping of technology and functionality. Given that all of its competitors offer disc brakes and navigation functions at a similar price, the scooter's pricing of Rs. 1,14,999 for the Pro variant appears to be an expensive purchase.
