KTM 350 Duke Launched in India at Rs 2.77 Lakh

KTM India has shaken up the mid-range performance segment with the official launch of the KTM 350 Duke at Rs 2.77 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Built on the same bones as the acclaimed 390 Duke, this new 349cc iteration is not a downgrade — it is a calculated market play, engineered to exploit India's GST structure and open the KTM performance experience to a significantly wider buyer base.

Engine & Performance

The 350 Duke's engine was created by reducing the stroke length to 56.15mm, down from 64mm, while retaining the same 89mm bore as the 399cc motor. The result is a 349.32cc mill producing 41.5hp at 8,600rpm and 33.5Nm at 7,000rpm — down 4.5hp and 5.5Nm compared to the 399cc unit. In absolute terms, the power deficit is modest. The 350 Duke still hits its peak revs with the aggressive, top-end character KTM is known for — it is no commuter motor hiding in a Duke's skin. The 6-speed gearbox, slipper clutch, and ride-by-wire throttle carry over unchanged, preserving the precision and engagement of the full-fat model.

Chassis & Handling

KTM has confirmed that key aspects such as wheelbase, ground clearance, and riding ergonomics remain unchanged from the 390 Duke R. The suspension setup — USD front forks and a rear monoshock — is identical, meaning the 350 Duke corners, communicates, and inspires the same confidence as its costlier sibling. At 168kg, the kerb weight is only 0.3kg lighter than the R model, so handling dynamics will feel near-identical on the road. Notably, the saddle height sits at 800mm — 20mm lower than the 399cc version — a subtle but meaningful improvement in accessibility for shorter riders stepping up from smaller displacement machines.

Technology & Features

Despite its lower price point, the 350 Duke does not compromise on technology. The TFT display, 320mm front disc, and 240mm rear disc all carry over from the 390 Duke lineup. There are no visual changes to distinguish the 350cc variant from the 399cc model — KTM continues to use the same '390' badging and stickers, meaning both versions look identical on the outside. Riders retain access to the same instrument cluster interface and connectivity features that have made the Duke range a benchmark in its class.

Verdict

Since bikes under 350cc attract 18% GST, KTM has been able to bring the price down without changing much else — and that strategic clarity defines the 350 Duke's value proposition. At roughly Rs 62,000 below the 390 Duke R, both engine options remain on sale simultaneously, giving buyers a genuine choice. For the performance-hungry rider who wants a full-featured, technology-rich KTM streetfighter without crossing the Rs 3 lakh threshold, the 350 Duke makes a compelling, near-irresistible case. It is not a lesser Duke — it is a smarter one.
