KTM 390 Adventure 350cc Launched at Rs 2.81 Lakh in India
News by Drivio | 21 Apr 2026
KTM India has officially launched a 350cc variant of the 390 Adventure, priced at Rs 2.81 lakh (ex-showroom) — a strategic move designed to widen its appeal in India's fiercely competitive mid-size adventure motorcycle segment. Sold alongside the existing 399cc lineup rather than replacing it, this new entry signals KTM's intent to capture a broader buyer demographic without cannibalising its own premium products. The pricing, however, immediately raises a critical question: what exactly do you give up?
Engine & Performance
The 350cc 390 Adventure draws power from a 349.32cc single-cylinder engine producing 41.5hp at 8,600rpm and 33.5Nm of torque at 7,000rpm. Compared to the 399cc motor — which delivers 46bhp and 39Nm — the deficit amounts to approximately 4.5hp and 5.5Nm. In real-world riding, that gap is unlikely to be felt dramatically during daily commutes or moderate trail riding, though the 399cc unit's advantage will be more apparent at highway speeds and when carrying luggage. The power reduction is a deliberate engineering compromise, with KTM keeping the displacement just under the 350cc GST threshold that triggers India's punishing 40% tax slab on motorcycles above that capacity.
Chassis, Technology & Features
Here is where KTM has drawn a firm line. According to KTM, key dimensions, including wheelbase and ground clearance, remain unchanged between the 350cc and 399cc variants. Crucially, the TFT instrument console, riding ergonomics, and overall technology suite are also carried over. Riders can still expect the same upright adventure-oriented posture and connected riding experience. The 390 Adventure X — the most accessible 399cc variant — is now priced at Rs 3.43 lakh following a recent revision, while the flagship 390 Adventure S sits even higher. This creates a Rs 62,000 gap between the 350cc model and the base 399cc option, a significant spread that KTM is clearly banking on.
The renamed 399cc lineup — 390 Adventure X and 390 Adventure S — continues in production, giving buyers a well-defined choice ladder. It will also be worth monitoring how the 350cc Adventure affects sales of the 250 Adventure, priced at Rs 2.46 lakh, since the gap between the two has now narrowed considerably.
Verdict
The KTM 390 Adventure 350cc is purpose-built for the value-conscious, first-time adventure rider who wants authentic KTM DNA — the TFT display, the ergonomics, the brand — without crossing into the Rs 3.43 lakh territory of the 399cc X variant. For urban explorers and weekend trail enthusiasts, the 4.5hp sacrifice is a reasonable trade for Rs 62,000 in savings. For those who tour highways or demand maximum punch, the 399cc S remains the more compelling, if more expensive, choice. KTM has not diluted its adventure lineup — it has intelligently extended it.
